The 7th China-Singapore Bilateral Investment Promotion Committee meeting was held in Beijing, China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday. Government officials from the two sides exchanged points of view on investment and government cooperation projects.

Wang Wentao, Chinese commerce minister, said during the meeting that the two countries have upgraded their relationship to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, which sets a clear direction for China-Singapore economic trade development.

China is willing to work with Singapore to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, to continue to deepen two-way investment cooperation, and strengthen support for intergovernmental cooperation projects such as the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, said Wang.

China will promote the implementation of multi-lateral FTAs, and build the digital economy, green economy and other areas into new highlights and growth points of China-Singapore cooperation, in order to make contributions to the enhancement of bilateral economic and trade relations, Wang noted.

Gan Kim Yong, Singaporean minister for trade and industry, said during the meeting that the committee has played an important role in promoting the development of two-way investment, and noted that bilateral economic cooperation has broad prospects.

Singapore is willing to work with China to promote two-way investment cooperation, strengthen communication and exchanges in the investment sector, and broaden cooperation in areas such as the digital economy and green economy, so as to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development, Gan noted.

The meeting was co-chaired by China's Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy International Trade Representative Ling Ji and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore Gabriel Lim. The meeting was held during the visit to China of Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of the Republic of Singapore Lawrence Wong from November 5 to 8.

Wong's visit will focus on tightening regional cooperation between the two countries to accelerate economic recovery, experts said.
